Prospects for Punishing Citizens of the Russian Federation for War Crimes in Ukraine in 2014-2022

Abstract
The authors of the article conducted a detailed analysis of the reasons for the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and determined the consequences of such behavior, considering historical examples of war crimes against other states. The main purpose of the article is to consider historical aspects and study official documents and options for prosecuting those guilty of war crimes by Russians. The article is based on functional, formally legal, dogmatic methodological approaches. As a result of the research, it should be
noted that the prospects of punishing citizens of the Russian Federation for war crimes in Ukraine in 2014-2022 can be implemented through national courts in Ukraine with further formation of the relevant practice of the European Court of Human Rights; International Criminal Court; creation of an ad hoc international tribunal regarding Ukraine.
